How to Achieve Kate Middleton's Style

Since her royal romance propelled her into the public spotlight, the world’s most famous girlfriend has blossomed from a fresh-faced student into a fashion queen. Who can forget the pictures of Kate on the catwalk wearing a see-through dress in a fashion show at St. Andrews? Or the hot pink halter dress she wore to the Boodles ball. Over the years Kate's style has evolved into a classic and chic look that is youthful while still being Princess-like. Notice that Kate's skirts are not too short, but not too long either. Compare her style to Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy who is much more of a boho chick than Kate.

The royal family has never been known for its fashion sense. From Queen Mary to the current Queen, royals tend to find one style and then stick to it, bucking fashion trends. Before Princess Diana, the most fashionable royal was probably Princess Margaret, and even she lost the thread somewhere along the line (seriously if you are going to wear pantyhose with open toe shoes, make sure they are sandalfoot pantyhose. Although truthfully it is not a good look).

Now ordinary women like us can learn the secrets of Kate's style.  Like a lot of women Kate likes to shop, but unlike European princesses who favor continental designers like Valentino and Gucci, Kate shops a good deal at what they call "high-street" shops in the UK and we call chain stores.  It's fairly easy to put together an outfit like Kate's, if you shop where she shops.  Here is a list of some of the shops that Kate frequents:

Jigsaw
Top Shop
Reiss
BCBG Max Azria
Diane von Furstenberg
Net A Porter
Temperley

Most of the shops or designers that Kate loves have outlets here in the States, meaning that you don't have to fly to England or order from catalogs overseas to capture her style.  Most department stores sell hats, including the fascinators that Kate seems to prefer.

Or if you prefer, you can order Kate's Style, a new book that comes out April 12,  from either Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Or wait until August when the second book comes out, Kate Style Princess comes out. Or just buy both which is probably what I'm going to be doing! I'm a sucker for these kinds of books.
