The Other Prince William - Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg

When Prince William announced his engagement to Catherine Middleton the world rejoiced. But for anyone who hoped to become Princess William, there was also a bit of mourning. Well, ladies, there are still some royal bachelors out there who are looking for their future Princess. First up the other Prince William, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg. Guillaume was born in 1981, which means that he will turn 30 this coming November, the perfect age to settle down with a wife. His parents Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa were married the same year as Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in February 1981 (Guillaume must have been a honeymoon baby!). Guillaume, from his pictures, looks quite handsome although I don’t think he’s that tall. There isn’t that much information about him on the web, he seems to keep a low profile compared to some of the other royals in Europe. He doesn’t seem to hang out in the trendy clubs of Europe with the other young royals but here’s what I’ve managed to glean from various sources including Royal Romance, Luxerazzi, and Netty’s Royal Blog.

Full name: Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie

Title: Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Hereditary Prince of Nassau, Prince of Bourbon of Parma

Born: November 11th, 1981 (Making him a Scorpio)

Parents: Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa

Education: Military Academy of Sandhurst (Just like Princes William and Harry); University of Durham

Personality: open.

Hobbies: reading, modern and classical music (plays the violin and piano), sports (soccer, sailing, swimming, skiing) billiards.

What he’s looking for: In an interview a few years ago, Guillaume revealed that he wants his future wife to enjoy sports and music and to be prepared for the responsibilities that would come with being a grand duchess. A modern independent woman, who knows her own mind, and is interested in his work. Which is what most men say they want!  He dated Norwegian model Pia Haraldsen in 2002-2003 but that ended years ago. He hasn’t really been linked with anyone since then although Revue magazine on his 28th birthday two years ago listed some eligible women including Paris Hilton (are you kidding me?), Princess Madeline of Sweden, Princess Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, Charlotte Casiraghi and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of Great Britain.  Only Princess Elisabeth is single and there are only two women on this list who are Catholic, Charlotte Casiraghi and Princess Elisabeth. Since Luxembourg is a Catholic country, no doubt the future Grand Duchess would also have to be Catholic as well.

If you are interested, I suggest you take a plane to Luxembourg toute suite. Unfortunately the website for the royal family is only in French (unlike the other monarchies which have English versions), so good luck trying to find out what his schedule is if you don't know French. Fortunately Guillaume speaks several languages, so if you do hook up with him, chances are you will be able to converse. Still I would suggest brushing up on a few French phrases.

Perks: Luxembourg has one of Europe's wealthiest royal families. The family resides in the Grand Ducal Palace (above) looks rather nice, as well as two other Chateaus. Rather than just sitting around counting his money , Guillaume takes his responsibilities very seriously. He actively participates in various causes, and does actually work.

The downside: No one knows exactly where the heck Luxembourg is.
